Requirements To Obtain A VISA To Enter Trinidad
Passport Information
- Passport must be valid 6 months beyond intended stay
- The original passport must be submitted and should have at least two blank visa pages for processing.
- Non U.S. Citizens must provide a notarized copy, front and back of a U.S. Green Card or I-94; in order to have a visa processed.
Tourist Visa
- Passport must be singed & valid for at least 6 months beyond intended stay.
- U.S. Citizens do not require a tourist visa for Trinidad.
- Some nationalities may need approval from Trinidad and the consulate in Washington D.C. in advance of travel.
- Copy of airline tickets or itinerary.
Business Visa
- Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond intended stay.
- U.S. Citizens do not require a business visa for Trinidad.
- 2 Visa Application Forms – Link fully completed and signed.
- 2 Passport-type photographs required
- Copy of itinerary or air tickets.
- If permanent resident of U.S.A., submit photocopy of U.S. Alien Registration (GREEN) Card.

Work Visas
A Work Visa is not required for visits that less than 30 days. If a work visa is required, a request/application for a work permit should be submitted at least six to eight weeks prior to the date on which the proposed employee is required to assume duty. Once an approval is granted from Trinidad and Tobago, follow the requirements below in order to begin the process of obtaining a work permit through Trinidad and Tobago.
- A Police Clearance Report that is no more than 3 months old.
- 2 character references, including one from a previous employer.
- A recent resume with proof of qualifications.
- 8 Visa Application Forms – Link fully completed typed (only) and signed.
- A proof of advertisement of the prospective position.
- 3 passport-type photographs, taken within past 3 months.
- Copy of itinerary or air tickets showing round trip transportation.
- If permanent resident of U.S.A., submit photocopy of U.S. Alien Registration (GREEN) Card.
- A business Letter of Guarantee – Link is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to: "The Consulate Of Trinidad/Houston TX."
- In order to obtain a work visa, an approval from the subsidiary organization in Trinidad must be obtained prior to the application process.
- Some nationalities may need approval from Trinidad and the consulate in Washington D.C. in advance of travel.
- The official receipt for the application fee of TT$600.00 as evidence of payment of the fee.

- In the case of a work permit extension for a period exceeding thirty days where the applicant has not visited the country within 12 consecutive months, the applicant must register with the relevant professional bodies e.g. The Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago and follow the procedure as outlined above for a first time application. An approved permit is TT$450.00 per month or TT$5,4000.00 per annum. Fees are payable ah the Cashier, Minister of National Security, Head Office and the receipt produced in order to collect the work permit.

All U.S. Citizens who are traveling by air will now be required to carry a U.S. Passport.
Adults over 19 years of age will require a passport if traveling outside the U.S. by car, including Canada and Mexico.
U.S. Citizens 19 and under do not require a U.S. Passport if they are traveling outside the U.S. by land or sea.
Closed Loop Cruises: U.S. Citizens who board a cruise ship at a port within the United States, travel only within the Western Hemisphere, and return to the same U.S. port on the same ship may present government-issued photo identification, along with proof of citizenship (an original birth certificate or a Consular report of Birth Abroad, or a Certificate of Naturalization).
