Requirements to obtain VISA to enter Angola

Passport Information

  • Passport must be valid 6 months beyond intended stay.

  • The original passport must be submitted and should have at least two blank visa pages for processing.

  • Non U.S. Citizens must provide a notarized copy, front and back of a U.S. Green card or the original U.S. Visa must be inside the passport in order to have a visa processed, an I-94 will not be accepted.

  • Applications can only be submitted on Mondays and Wednesdays, the pick up days are Friday or the following Wednesday. For applications submitted on Monday, the estimated pick up day will be Friday of the same week, for applications submitted on Wednesday, the estimated pick up day is the Friday of the following week. Please keep in mind that the pick up and dates are not determined by Sam's Passport & Visa Service, they are the issued by the Consulate of Angola in Houston. (This excludes 7day STV visas).

 

Attention - Effective January 1st 2013, all applicants will have to make a personal appearance at the consulate of Angola in order to submit please contact Julie Moudik or Darran Binns for further details.

 

Tourist Visa

  • Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond intended stay.
  • Visa Request Form is required for the completion of the visa.
  • Applicants that are members of the visa waiver program must possess an actual US sticker stamp in their passport in order to apply at Angola. Or  a green card.

  • 2 Visa Application Forms – Link fully completed typed and signed. Applications will not be accepted if they are not typed
  • A valid and recent copy of the applicants bank statement that will show sufficient funds.
  • A valid flight itinerary with confirmed hotel confirmation.
  • A written statement from the contact person in Angola who will be the host of the applicant while in Angola. Within the content of the letter, there should be the full name of the host, his or her full address in Angola, in addition to providing the informational page of the passport which will include the picture, issue date, date of expiration and passport number.
  • A Letter of Abide by the applicant stating that he or she will abide by all of the Angolan laws translated into Portuguese.
  • A copy of the passport and visa of the person inviting you to Angola.

  • 2 Passport-type photographs required. (No glasses, with the applicants face in plain view and ears must be showing). The applicant must also be wearing a button-up shirt with a tie. The consulate will only accept actual 2x2 passport type photographs from a reputable source, i.e. Kinko's, Walgreens, CVS, etc. Photos printed at home or from an office printer will not be accepted under any circumstances. Photos that are sent in invalid format will be rejected and will cause a delay in submission at the travelers expense.

  • Copy of airline tickets or itinerary.
  • A "color copy" of the applicants first two pages of his or her passport.
  • A "color copy" of the applicants most recent yellow fever vaccination certificates/results.
  • Attention - If you were born in a Portuguese speaking country, you are required by the Angolan Consulate to show proof of health insurance.

Business Visa

  • Applications can only be submitted on Mondays and Wednesdays, the pick up days are Friday only. For applications submitted on Monday, the estimated pick up day will be Friday of the same week, for applications submitted on Wednesday, the estimated pick up day is the Friday of the following week.   • A "color copy" of the applicants first two pages of his or her passport.
  • The "color copy" Yellow Fever Vaccination card.

  • Letter of invitation from host in Angola - (Must be written in Portuguese and have a seal by the Ministry of Petroleum in Angola). The letter must be addressed to the "Consulate of Angola/Houston TX"
  • All business visas must be used within sixty days of issuance.
  • All applications and corresponding documents must be thoroughly checked before submission. The consulate has a zero tolerance for incorrect paperwork and will not refund visa fees due to errors.
  • Attention - If you were born in a Portuguese speaking country, you are required by the Angolan Consulate to show proof of health insurance.


Work Visa (90day - 180day - 1Year Visas)

  • Applications can only be submitted on Mondays and Wednesdays, the pick up days are Friday only.   • 4 Passport-type photographs required. (No glasses, with the applicants face in plain view and ears must be showing). The applicant must also be wearing a button-up shirt with a tie. Effective Monday December 12, 2011. The consulate will only accept actual 2x2 passport type photographs from a reputable source, i.e. Kinko's, Walgreens, CVS, etc. Photos printed at home or from an office printer will not be accepted under any circumstances. Photos that are sent in invalid format will be rejected and will cause a delay in submission at the travelers expense.

  • A Business Letter of Guarantee- Link is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to: "Consulate of Angola/Houston TX".
  • A work contract with an original signature.

  • Copy of itinerary or air tickets.
  • A "color copy" of the applicants first two pages of his or her passport.
  • The "color copy" Yellow Fever Vaccination card.
  • A Letter of Abide by the applicant stating that he or she will abide by all of the Angolan laws translated into Portuguese.

  • Invitation letter from the Company in Angola which must state the type of work and position the applicant is going to have in Angola. This letter must be approved and stamped by the Ministry of Petroleum in Angola. The letter must also be addressed to the "Consulate of Angola/Houston TX"
  • All of the following documents will need to be translated into Portuguese, receive a certificate of notary and then authenticated through the Stated Department - Sam's Passport & Visa can provide this service.
    • The copy of the applicants diploma, if applicable
    • The applicants resume.
    • The complete and "Original Medical Exam" from the doctor which will show the applicant is free from diseases or illness. This letter must be signed by a physician in should include HIV test results, presented on a official physicians letterhead.
    • A valid Police Clearance Report issued within the last three months.
  • All applications and corresponding documents must be thoroughly checked before submission. The consulate has a zero tolerance for incorrect paperwork and will not refund visa fees due to errors.

7 Day STV Visa

 

  • All 7 day STV visas currently for both U.S. Citizens and Foreign Nationals are issued in 2 days. The 7 day STV must enter Angola within 72 hours of the STV visa being issued. 
  • Once arriving in Angola, all applicants must contact the local immigration office in Angola to have the STV visa extended. All travelers should have a "confirmed" travel reservation before submission of visa paperwork to the consulate.
  • 7 STV visas can be submitted into the Angolan Houston consulate every Monday and Wednesday only.  Processing times for all STV visas will take 1-2 business days at the discretion of the consulate.

Q. What is a visa? And why do I need one.
A. A visa is a stamp that is affixed to a blank visa page in your passport that is required by foreign countries before you are able to enter their territory.

Q. Do I need to send you my passport in order to receive a visa?
A. Yes, your passport must be submitted with the required paperwork and photos in order to obtain a visa for traveling outside the USA. For visa service in Houston, you can drop off your passport at our agency.

All U.S. Citizens who are traveling by air will now be required to carry a U.S. Passport.

Adults over 19 years of age will require a passport if traveling outside the U.S. by car, including Canada and Mexico.

U.S. Citizens 19 and under do not require a U.S. Passport if they are traveling outside the U.S. by land or sea.

Closed Loop Cruises: U.S. Citizens who board a cruise ship at a port within the United States, travel only within the Western Hemisphere, and return to the same U.S. port on the same ship may present government-issued photo identification, along with proof of citizenship (an original birth certificate or a Consular report of Birth Abroad, or a Certificate of Naturalization).

Note - You may still be required to present a passport card or passport book to enter the foreign country to which you are traveling.  Please contact your cruise line to verify which documents are required for your trip.


Processing time for Brazil Visas will now take a minimum of 7-10 working days.
